Are you tired of being one of many nameless faces? It’s time you learn how to stand out in a good way! Here are 7 tips.

You might ask yourself why you should want to stand out. If you lack confidence, simply blending in with the crowd can be much more comfortable.

But like the saying goes: Success lies outside your comfort zone.

Standing out can be beneficial when you apply for a job, offer your services online, and look for a significant other.

If you know how to stand out in a good way, your chances of success increase tenfold.

But careful! The keyword is “in a good way.”

It is all too easy to stand out negatively, especially as humans are more prone to noticing negative things than positive ones.

So be careful with how to make yourself known.

The following tips should guide you in the right direction.

1. Smile and don’t complain

The world is seemingly full of complainers.

People complain about school, jobs, politics, neighbors, celebrities, series, movies, music, partners, diet, etc.

Nothing is safe from complainers.

And on top of that, many people seem to suffer from the Armchair Quarterback Syndrom, meaning their actual knowledge and expertise are severely lacking despite their perceived superior competence.

They sit at home in their armchair and criticize everything people do, saying it should have been done this or that way, despite having very little expertise in the topic.

If you want to stand out badly, then be one who complains loudly about everything.

However, if you want to stand out positively, give constructive criticism on where your expertise lies. In all other cases, smile and accept that nobody and nothing is ever perfect.

2. Be motivated and passionate

So many people do their work only because it needs to get done, and as a result, they do the bare minimum.

By comparison, someone motivated and passionate about their work stands out immensely.

Their energy and attitude are downright captivating to others because of their rareness.

Also, their attitude helps them deliver better work faster, which tends to leave a good impression.

3. Acquire a unique combination of skills

Being competent in one subject is not enough to stand out nowadays. There are simply too many people with the same skills.

However, you will be able to stand out positively if you acquire multiple skills that make up a unique combination. This can often be achieved by specializing in yourself.

For example, having expertise in medical law will make you stand out more than a simple law degree.

And having intimate knowledge of a certain sports field paired with a marketing degree will help you when working in marketing for sports products.

As you can see, interdisciplinary knowledge and skills are key to standing out among your competition.

4. Be kind when others aren’t

Kindness in the face of challenging and unfair circumstances is hard.

Most people seem to think it reasonable to lower themself to other people’s morals. After all, if everyone else is scamming, why should I be the only fool that plays fair.

That’s why staying true to your morals and being kind will help you to stand out in these situations.

Granted, some people might see your unflappable kindness as naivety. But then again, does it matter what they think?

Many others will feel undeniably drawn to the light you emit.

5. Be well-dressed

Whether we like it or not, appearances matter. They shape the first impression someone gets of us, and standing out is all about first impressions.

To be well-dressed, you don’t have to be extremely stylish or up-to-date with the latest fashion trends.

Mostly it comes down to dressing appropriately for the occasion and having a matching color scheme.

6. Talk less and make what you say count

Most people like to talk about themself and their opinions. They spend the time other people are talking not by listening to them but by planning what they will say next.

As a result, they talk a whole lot, and little of it actually matters.

That’s why it’s so startling and refreshing to come across somebody who carefully considers what to say.

7. Embrace your quirks and flaws

Everybody has some quirks and flaws that they consider undesirable; most people try to hide them.

That’s why it is so fascinating to see someone who embraces these flaws wholeheartedly.

It makes them seem more real like they have nothing to hide.

It also makes others feel better about their flaws, especially if they are similar to yours.

So, try not to make a big deal out of your imperfections. They are a part of you, and you want to stand out as your real self, not a fake version.
